| | | Dear NHSNYC Friends and Supporters, |
| The first quarter of 2023 has been a busy one for us here at NHSNYC. Despite external challenges, including the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank, its impact on the market, and the ongoing recession, NHSNYC continues to deliver its programs and services to New York City residents in pursuit of sustainable homeownership and financial wellness through our Homebuyer Education curriculum, our Financial Capability Programming, and our affordable lending services. NHSNYC continues to serve as a critical resource, supporting clients as they continue to work with our HUD-certified counselors to set and achieve their financial goals, regardless of the market's current realities. April is a notable month for NHSNYC, as it highlights two critical components of our mission and work. First, Financial Literacy Month raises public awareness around the importance of financial education, financial literacy, and managing personal finances to cultivate and support smart money management habits and techniques for the average family to become financially whole. Read on to see our full schedule of April events supporting Financial Literacy Month, including our homebuyer orientations, seminars, and financial fitness classes. In addition, we are hosting two in-person Foreclosure Events at our Bronx office with support from Ocwen Financial/PHH Mortgage. Details and registration links are below. Second, Volunteer Appreciation Month recognizes all those who give their time and energy to important causes nationwide. Here at NHSNYC, we are heavily dependent upon our Board of Directors, Advisory Board, Bank Partners, and HomeFunders who volunteer their time and talents to support and amplify the work of NHSNYC and to help us expand our reach to more clients across the five boroughs of New York City. We are eternally grateful to our volunteer board members and facilitators who not only advise NHSNYC but provide invaluable support to our clients as co-hosts of our educational events and programming. We're also delighted to share with you some of our recent successes, which you will read more about below, including a significant grant from our longtime partners at Goldman Sachs in support of our Lending Program, and an award from the CDFI Fund's Equitable Recovery Program, in support of our Loan Fund. As always, on behalf of our dedicated staff and our committed Board of Directors, we thank you for your unwavering support of NHSNYC and the work we are doing in our shared community. Simply put, we couldn't do this work without partners and supporters like you. Thank you sincerely. In partnership, Derrick Griggs Chief Executive Officer |
